St Michael's Cricket Club

Picture of Macleod PavilionSt. Michael’s Cricket Club, based at Kingholm Park, Dumfries in South West Scotland was established in 1952 and still firmly believes in its original constitution that states:

“St. Michael’s Cricket Club aims to promote cricket as a mass participation sport and make it fun, safe and accessible for all those who wish to play cricket regardless of age, sex, or playing ability.”

The club currently has two sides competing in the Western District Cricket Union (WDCU), a T20 side playing in the John Henderson & Son midweek league, as well as a Sunday X1 playing friendlies with teams from across South West Scotland and Cumbria. However, our two most important sides are our Under 16 and Under 12 Junior/Youth development sides that have their own fixtures and training nights.

The Club is very proud to have achieved both Dumfries & Galloway Sports Club and Cricket Scotland TOPClub (Bronze Award) accreditation. The Sports Club Accreditation Scheme, run by Dumfries & Galloway Leisure and Sport is an effective way to demonstrate to parents, schools and the wider community that St. Michael’s Cricket Club has achieved nationally recognised standards in junior coaching and child protection.

During the season senior practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.00 pm at Kingholm Park. All new players are welcome and can compete for the chance to play for our League teams, DMPS St. Michael’s and John Pagan & Son Kingholm or in friendly fixtures for Dumfries Timber Co Sunday X1.

Currently St Michael's Cricket Club subscriptions for adult players are set at £50 a year (concessions available for students, juniors, unemployed and non-playing members). Mark SmithFor full details see our subscription page.

We are proud to announce that St Michael's overseas player for 2010 is Mark Smith, a quick bowler who represented New South Wales U16s in 2000/01 and is currently Captain of Narara-Wyoming CC back home in Australia. Mark will be coaching at a number of primary and secondary schools in and around Dumfries this season as well as at Club junior sessions every Monday.

For the 2010 season, Saints have also installed a new articial wicket and training surfaces at Kingholm Park with the aid of much welcome and appreciated grants from both the Holywood Trust and Dumfries Sports Council.
